A Little about Me
Two years ago, I went through a life-changing experience which left me searching for my identity and purpose. I was a full time Special Education and Family Aide. Then, overnight I was having to relearn how to do the basic things: walk, talk, get out of bed, feed myself, live with half my vision because of an eye patch. All of it while fighting an illness that was taking my life.
In the time since things changed, I’ve realized that I’m a learner. I love to learn and help people. I thrive when I’m challenged to make bread or play a game I’ve never played before. I am finding purpose in sitting with others who might need to be seen and heard. I love to challenge myself daily, to do something I don’t yet know how to do.
Introducing “Patches”. The name was created when my grandson was first learning how to walk and talk. He would see me, point to my eye patch and say “patch”. (His little baby lisp was so cute! “Pathhh”) I would watch him scoot, then crawl, then take tiny wobbly steps, then full out run. It was then that I realized that if he could get up every time he fell while learning how to walk, so could I. I learned that if he could stumble over the new words he was learning, so could I.
I have done a lot of reading (yes, with my magnifying glass) and studying the many toxins in our homes from cleaners and chemicals used in our everyday lives. I’ve been learning from others how to cut the negative components and exchange them with safer, non-toxic essentials. I’ve taken, and still enjoy taking, on-line courses that focus on how to be healthier in choosing more positive and beneficial cleaning and body care. Am I perfect at it? No. I am still learning, but I want to share what I have learned with you. I want to help you’re ‘every day’, be a clean and healthier day.
